Quick "Get back to Work" reminder

The other day I opened my fortune cookie, gobbled it down (because we all know that the fortune will not come true if you don't eat the cookie first) then read my fortune.  I think my cookie was trying to tell me something.

I had been working on editing, then slowly found myself scrolling Facebook more.  Clicking StumbleUpon's button.  Zoning out into nothingness.  Oh, shiney things, why do I love you so?

Then here comes my cookie, with its oh-so-wise words.  I instantly dove back in (after shooting a photo of it first, of course!  How could I not?) and as I write this during my mental break, I am only two chapters away from finishing this round of editing!  The paper edit looms in the near future, and I am excited.

What recent "slap on the wrist" reminders to get back to work and WRITE have you had?

Now is a good time to finish up old tasks... with your novel!

A very excellent thought. I had a bit of depression after an accident and found myself lost in movies and reviewing them for another website. That kept me from my true goals. It wasn't until someone in the film industry read my WiP and insisted that I finish it that I dropped those distractions and got to work.

Thank you for the reminder. :)

You have to eat the cookie first? No wonder my fortunes never pan out!

I see you're reading Blindness. Isn't it an interesting story? I found the beginning a bit hard to get into, probably because I was so conscious of the fact that the English copy is translated from Portuguese. It really picks up in the middle, though. Hope you're enjoying it!

I don't have a problem with the writing... just the editing...
I haven't found a good solution to that.
Well, wait. I have playlists for all my projects, if I listen to the playlist long enough, I'll get back in the mood.

That's a pretty awesome message to get in a fortune cookie when you're procrastinating. hehe
I'm with Nicole. I never knew you were supposed to eat the cookie before you read the fortune.

I think we're all to eager to play the "in bed" game with our fortunes.
